If you're looking to buy a used, top-quality guitar or amp, eBay has some great listings right now. In the last few weeks there's been many great deals on cheap used guitars that I would have loved to have gotten in on, but due to a layoff from my job I'm only watching for now. I guess a lot of people are having to sell due to poor economy and many job layoffs.

An old Stratocaster sold through one of my other sites for $1,299.00. The thing is, the buyer could probably turn around and sell that same guitar at a very good profit. It was a beautiful guitar worth quite a bit more than the buyer paid.

So if you're looking for a good, cheap, used electric or acoustic guitar, click on the drop-down menu at the top/right of this post.

Also, if you look around the eBay Stores, there's a lot of new guitars and amps that are very affordable.

Happy Bidding!!

I was just searching around for guitar news and came across the Rolling Stone article (by Pete Townshend 1983) 'The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.' Obviously Pete knows his guitar, and players, especially having lived in, and experiencing first-hand some of the most developmental times in the evolution of guitar playing.

However, and I say this at the risk of being hunted down and strung up, I just never got Jimi Hendrix, Townshend's greatest player of all time, to the extent that most people seem to. Before you start thinking how stupid I must be, I will say that I do/did like the guy and his playing ability, but I was never awe-struck like most seem to be.

Hendrix was a fantastic player, there's no doubt, but I think there's been several (if not many) other players that I would put above him in both playing ability and performance. Jimmy Page comes to mind if you're thinking Rock guys. If you wanna get into other genres, which I guess isn't fair if we're comparing apples to apples, there are many, many guys (and girls (Liona Boyd)) that could play circles around Jimi Hendrix.

From the tone of Townshend's article I realize he was not only taking the final product (the music) into consideration when branding Hendrix 'The Greatest', but was figuring in his whole persona, which I'm sure lifted him up to God-like status, but when it's just about the music I'm sorry, but he just doesn't cut it.

In closing, if we were to consider actual technical ability on the instrument, players such as Segovia and Parkening, as well as many, many other players in jazz, classical and other genres, including rock are light years ahead of Hendrix, but that's just one man's opinion, and from what seems to be the popular opinion of Jimi Hendrix, an ignorant man's opinion at that.

prsmccartyiiIf you're searching for a good deal on a used guitar, eBay has been having some gems pass through lately, especially since Christmas. I don't know if lots of people got new instruments and need to sell their old ones, or they're just broke and need the money, but it's a good time to be buying.

There's especially been some beautiful cheap electric guitars up for bid at the Bay. I'm really wanting to get a PRS, but I'm laid off from work so I can't justify the expense right now (maybe tomorrow though :) ).

There's been a few of the cheapest Les Pauls to sell in the last few months than I've seen in a good long while. I guess the poor economy is taking it's toll. I've never owned a Les Paul, mainly because they're so damned heavy, but at the right price I could be pursuaded to buy.

I've got an American Telecaster that I bought new in about 1991 I guess, but I'd love to find a used Stratocaster at a decent price. The way things are going now, and from the listings that I've been seeing already, I've got a feeling I'll find a nice cheap Stratocaster, or at least a decently priced one, before too long.

So, click on the drop-down menu to your right, under where it says 'The Guitar and Amp Store', and select the guitar or amp that you're looking for. I'll guarantee that you will find a quality used guitar or amp if you look through the listings.

Oh, don't forget...they've got a huge selection of effects pedals, and anything else that you could possibly want.

Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
